Our mission is to provide a fun and supportive space for people of all ages and skill levels to learn and experience the JOY of dance.
Rock City Dance Center opened in Little Rock, Arkansas during the summer of 2010 under the direction of Kristen Sadler-Pittman. Within four months of operation, RCDC enrolled over 200 students and had grown to employ six instructors. Since the beginning, the training programs at RCDC have been recognized for their talented instructors and creative curriculum. During its first year, the RCDC Company produced three national champions and received two national choreography awards. RCDC quickly built a reputation locally, regionally and nationally for excellence in the competitive dance arena. RCDC is nationally recognized for training dancers who are not only high quality technicians, but also incredible artists.
In 2012, RCDC expanded its course offerings to include a pre-professional training program. This premier training program offers students the rigorous training required to transition their passion for the arts into a profession in the arts. In 2018, RCDC became the Central training facility for the American Dance Company, a competing member of the International Dance Organization. Led by RCDC instructors Kristen Sadler-Pittman and Sydney Smith, the American Dance Company represents the United States of America on the international stage at the IDO World Championships in Europe. RCDC is now home to World Champion instructors, choreographers and dancers.
In 2021, Kristen Pittman partnered with Kristin O'Hara to open a second location and bring RCDC to Conway, AR. In addition to professional training opportunities, the acclaimed RCDC recreational dance program serves hundreds of dancers in the Central Arkansas community. A second location in the area allows hundreds more dancers to experience the JOY of dance with us at Rock City Dance Center.
What makes RCDC different?
Rock City Dance Center proudly offers a wide-ranging, fun, community based, nurturing but challenging dance experience. The variety of offerings is the largest in Central Arkansas. With a talented professional staff of instructors, RCDC offers recreational and fundamental training classes for dancers of all ages as a fun and athletic hobby. For dancers seeking more commitment and wishing to pursue dance at a higher level, RCDC offers competition programs, an advanced ballet training program, and pre-professional training. We give beginning dancers a fun opportunity to try the moves they have seen on TV and we train our pre-professional dancers via the rigorous standards required to succeed at the next level. RCDC routinely hosts working dance professionals from the largest markets in the country to teach master classes to our students, exposing them to the entertainment industry and opening doors for them to network in the future. RCDC is the only studio in Arkansas providing these opportunities on a regular basis.
Regardless of your chosen involvement, every RCDC dancer is important to us and receives the same level of attention. We listen and maintain an open line of communication with all our customers. An honest relationship with our customers has helped develop our best practices for the last eleven years and will continue to do so going forward. Our focus is on the excellence, fun, and joy of dance at every level. We understand and celebrate the fact that the discipline, artistry, and development acquired through the study of dance provide students with the self-confidence, team skills, focus, and grace needed for personal and professional success in their years to come.
